To provide participants with moments of personal growth through challenging environments. We providing social and emotional tools to help face difficult situations, not only in climbing, but in our day to day lives. We aim to connect participants with themselves, each other, and their environments through the sport of rock climbing. Offering a chance to experience new heights and grow as a leader and community member.
Social Emotional Learning
.A key objective of our program is to provide participants moments of growth through social emotional learning (SEL). Leadership, responsible decision making, teamwork, confidence, and self-management are major elements participants can learn during Billy Goats Climbing adventures.

The achievement gap as defined by the National Center for Education Statistics is when one group (e.g. students grouped by race/ethnicity, and gender) outperforms another group with the differences being significantly different. The adventure gap, similarily, is the truth that adventure sports and the outdoor industry as a whole has severely lacked racial diversity.

Build it.
Minnesota is home to more than 28 cultural communities. The outdoor culture of our state needs to represent everyone that calls Minnesota home. The knowledge, skill, and gear needed to be a climber is locked away behind a financial barrier many cannot afford. The Billy Goat’s team wants to use our knowledge and skills to help change the face of climbing in Minnesota. We aim to close the adventure gap by giving participants the gear, skills, and the means to access climbing beyond our program.
